Daytona Beach, FL - Victory motorcycles arrived in Daytona Beach to join hundreds of thousands of motorcyclists for Bike Week, billed as ``The World's Largest Motorcycle Show.'' A 10-day festival, Bike Week attracts bike enthusiasts from around the world.
Victory Bike Week Events
The first-ever organized ``Victory PRO Family Ride at Daytona Bike Week'' is scheduled to depart March 4 at 10 a.m. in Daytona. More than 100 riders are expected to participate in the motorcycle tour, including the President and future CEO of Polaris Tom Tiller, Victory Motorcycles general manager Matt Parks, master builders Arlen Ness and Donnie Smith, Victory enthusiasts and other Victory employees.
Riders will assemble at the Victory Demo Ride Area at Daytona International Speedway, cruise down Main Street in Daytona Beach, then head out of town for an ocean-side ride to lunch. Interested Victory owners can sign up at the Victory trailer through March 3.
``We are very excited to be a part of Bike Week this year,'' said Parks. ``It's been great to see so much excitement and involvement from our employees and motorcycle enthusiasts since the introduction of Victory motorcycles.''
Just before the ``Victory PRO Family Ride at Daytona Bike Week'' begins, Polaris will hold a ``Best-Looking Victory'' contest. Master builder Arlen Ness will judge the bikes assembled for the PRO Family Victory Ride and the winner will be announced during a lunch along the Victory ride route. The owner of the winning bike will receive the choice of a $500 gift certificate or a Victory leather jacket.
Victory's Home-Away-From-Home
Victory motorcycles traveled in style from Minnesota-based Polaris Industries in a new 53-foot, custom-designed mobile marketing unit. The mobile marketing unit will be used at Bike Week to display Victory motorcycles -- including a custom Victory bike designed by Denny Burg for Cobra -- to demonstrate Victory products and to entertain guests on the 50-foot observation deck atop the trailer.
Victory also will display a cut-away engine, operational instrumentation display, parts, garments, accessories and clothing. Features of the trailer include space for demonstration motorcycles; a lounge complete with refrigerator, private office, TV, VCR, CD-player and satellite dish; a work area perfect for maintaining motorcycles; and a 50-foot observation deck atop the mobile marketing unit with a 20-foot awning and seating for 30-50 people.
In addition to the displays at the Victory mobile marketing unit, test drives will be offered at the Demo Ride Area throughout the week, except Thursday, due to overwhelming response to the first Victory PRO Family ride.
The Victory
The Victory, a made-in-the-U.S.A. heavyweight cruiser, features a unique combination of looks, performance and sound. The Victory is designed with classic aviation, automotive and motorcycle styling, and looks like no other motorcycle on the market. At over 92 cubic inches (1507 cc), the engine is one of the largest V-twins available.
Victory Motorcycles reached a milestone recently when it shipped its 1,500th production bike, the last of the initial numbered series. The milestone was reached in approximately a half-year since the July 4, 1998 start of production at the company's Spirit Lake, Iowa, manufacturing facility. This number also included a number of CARB-certified bikes whose emissions systems have met the strict standards of the California Air Resources Board.
Polaris designs, engineers, manufactures and markets snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, Victory motorcycles, personal watercraft, and the Polaris RANGER for recreational and utility use. Polaris is the largest snowmobile manufacturer in the world, and one of the largest U.S. manufacturers of ATVs and personal watercraft. Polaris Industries Inc. trades on the New York Stock Exchange and Pacific Stock Exchange under the symbol ``PII,'' and the company is included in the S&P SmallCap 600 stock price index.
