San Diego, CA - Vincent Motors, founded in 1998 by Bernard Li in San Diego, California plans to re-introduce the Vincent motorcycle name. Li, a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, has acquired the trademarks, developed and negotiated alliances and manufactured the first prototypes of the new Vincent motorcycle.
After the initial prototypes are introduced, Vincent Motors will build additional prototypes, complete physical testing and modifications and move toward final certification and manufacturing. The process is expected to take two years.
The new Vincents, which are targeted at "the experienced, affluent motorcyclist," will feature a tubular monocoque chassis with a single rear shock assembly, carbon-fiber bodywork and will be powered by Honda’s 130-hp RC-51 high-performance V-twin. Four models are planned: Black Shadow, Black Lightning S, Black Lightning ST and Black Eagle. Pricing has not been set, nor has an official on-sale date, although it is expected to be 2004.
