Winston-Salem, NC - The AHDRA announced the cancellation of the New Jersey Nationals, scheduled for September 22, 2002.
The New Jersey Nationals, the only one-day event of the AHDRA 25th Anniversary tour was to be held at Raceway Park in Old Bridge Township, New Jersey.
Craig Tharpe, President of AHDRA has already started investigating an alternate plan for replacing what was to be the 12th race of the 14 race series. "We regret the decision was made to cancel the event", Tharpe commented." It has always been a good event for us, with a strong fan base."
Tharpe learned of the decision after an announcement stating the Harley-Davidson 100th Anniversary event had been cancelled at Raceway Park, due to lack of support from community leaders in Old Bridge Township. The event was part of the 100th Anniversary Open Road Tour. According to press releases from the Harley-Davidson Motor Company, they are also seeking an alternate location for the event.
"We appreciate the support and efforts of Raceway Park in hosting the AHDRA event," Tharpe added. "The circumstances surrounding the cancellation were beyond our control and we would certainly be open to future appearances at the track."
The AHDRA will post any further developments on alternate plans for the September event. For more information on the AHDRA 25th Anniversary Tour, visit our website at www.ahdra.com.
