October 22, 1998

Wisconsin - Government efforts to crack down on the Outlaws motorcycle gang received a setback from a federal judge. The judge has dismissed all charges against the bikers and ordered the release of 13 gang members who are in jail. The judge ruled that the government did not get timely authorization for wiretaps used in the cases against the bikers from LaCrosse, Janesville, and south suburban Chicago. Charges ranged from murder to drug dealing.
